Windmills near Zaandam ☴ Monet ☰ Art Print Paper Finish:Resin Semigloss The large cypress visually dividesWindmills near Zaandam (1871) by Claude Monet depicts the windmills at Westzijderveld as seen from a boat, an example of the looser, experimental style which he developed during the 1870s. Monet made three visits to the Netherlands, on this occasion he spent four months in Zaandam with his family. During his stay, he painted about 20 small views of the town and the surrounding area, with the ever changing weather conditions playing a central role.
