1847 148pp GERMAN IMMIGRANT. An Extensive German Immigrant Diary, Including Religious Verse &c. ZZArtwork An irreplaceable grouping of "firsts"A very attractive hand sewn diary of 148pp with manuscript diary beginning in Oldenburg in Holstein, Germany, and working up through Kracht family in Bautzen. The family finally immigrated to America. The volume contains [at least] two distinct hands, with the lengthy diary section in the earlier hand, probably the 1840's and 1850's, and the hymns and verse in another hand, probably dating to the 1870's and 1880's and being that of Helene Knacht.
